Practice Policies & FAQs

  • Second Breakfast Nutrition accepts self-pay and is also an in-network provider with most commercial Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. We are happy to submit claims on your behalf for any in-network insurance plans.

For all out-of-network insurance plans, we are able to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider. We are happy to answer any questions regarding out-of-network insurance and submitting superbills.

PLEASE NOTE: BCBS of South Carolina does not typically cover nutrition counseling services.

  • Each client is responsible for checking their individual benefits. Steps to take PRIOR to your appointment:

1.) Please call the member services number on the back of your card. Here are some important questions to ask:

    • Is the group Annie Goldsmith RD, LLC with Group NPI number 1649727140 and/or the Group Tax ID number 47-5149575 considered in-network?

    • Does my plan cover outpatient nutrition counseling under the CPT codes 97802, 97803 and/or 97804?

    • Is the ICD-10 code z71.3 covered? *For Aetna commercial plans, an additional code may be needed. Contact us for more information.

    • Does my plan consider nutritional counseling as preventative care?

    • Is there a session visit limit? If so, how many sessions are covered per year?

    • Do I have a deductible to meet before my plan will pay out my visits? If so, what is the deductible amount? What is the remaining balance?

    • Is there a copay? If so what is the amount?

    • Name of the representative you spoke with?

    • Please ask for a call reference number.

2.) Bring your insurance card to your first appointment, or upload copies of the front and back of your card to your SimplePractice profile.

Don’t hesitate to contact our Practice Manager, Autumn, at second.breakfast.rd@gmail.com with any questions or concerns you may have about working with your insurance.

  • All appointments must be scheduled in advance. If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged a cancellation fee, which is outlined in our intake forms.

  • As of January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers are required to provide estimates for the costs of your care. A Good Faith Estimate will be provided by your clinician upon scheduling and/or as requested. While it is difficult to predict the number of sessions you will ultimately need to reach your treatment goals, we strive to be as transparent as possible about cost of treatment during this process.
